Introduction

Hi, my name is Julian Lin. I am a self-taught web developer living in Taipei, Taiwan with a background in Mechanical Engineer and Electrical Engineer, and have been learning web development, full-time, since Febuary 2020.

In October 2020, I have joined Opennet.ltd as a backend software engineer. During the time, I worked in two teams. First, the System Stability and Performance Team, where I maintained distributed system’s stability and enhanced its performance. I helped reduce 90% of the system error alert and improved inefficient SQLs by up to 500%. The Second Team was to develop customer support web application for the customer service team. I built 40+ visualized metrics, analytics, and summary tables for agent efficiency and performance statistics. Also, I helped improve performance by 5 times by refactoring inefficient analytic SQLs.

I enjoy learning and building web applications with latest tech stack and techniques. Currently, I am building a Ramen review website which let ramen lovers share their experiences for stores in Taiwan.

I am an incoming student in University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana studying Electrical and Computer Engineering, Actively looking for summer intern in the US.

About this project

Ramen club web application is a full-stack React and Node.js app made for helping users to find their favorite ramen stores around them. Features include the ability to view all ramen stores crawled from google map, create an account, edit your profile, add a new favorite store you find around you, leave comments, and rate stores. Also, the website allow users to find nearest ramen stores in their city implementing geohash and Uber h3 geo-spacial indexing.

About this project

HowHow Parser is a backend node app which generate spoken sentence using parsed YouTube video from famous YouTuber HowHow. The video contains all the chinese character pronunciation and I extract all the time-pronunciation relationship and write a parser accordingly. The app features typing a sentence in the form and the app cuts the video and mergers the sentence pronounced by the youtuber for you.
